Stephanie

At just 32 years old, Stephanie has faced more challenges than most will in a lifetime. Diagnosed with ulcerative colitis as a teenager, she managed her condition for years—until life threw her another devastating curveball.

In July 2023, Stephanie was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Since then, she has bravely endured:
A double mastectomy with reconstruction
Chemotherapy and radiation
Additional surgery due complications from treatment

Despite these hardships, Stephanie worked tirelessly to regain her strength and return to her career as a dental hygienist. But just as she was finding her footing, she received heartbreaking news—her cancer had returned.

Stephanie has always been fiercely independent, but unable to work while undergoing treatment, she now relies on the support of loved ones.

Through it all, Stephanie and her husband remain devoted to each other, finding strength in gratitude and the kindness of their community.
Hot Pink Helpers was honoured to step in and provide Stephanie with a grant to ease her financial burden, allowing her to focus on what matters most—her health and healing.

Patricia

Meet Patricia. At 74 years young, this incredible warrior still works every day as a dedicated social worker, pouring her heart into helping others. Two years ago, Patricia rang the bell, believing she had beaten breast cancer. But recently, the unthinkable happened—it’s back.

Now, instead of supporting families like she always has, Patricia is fighting for her own life while struggling to make ends meet.

Thanks to the generosity of our amazing community, Hot Pink Helpers was able to step in with a grant to help bridge the financial gap for Patricia.

This is why we do what we do.

Dorothy

Dorothy is a 50-year-old music teacher and single mom to a special-needs teen. Earlier this year, she was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer. Sadly, her condition progressed to Stage 4 and has now spread.

Despite the battle she’s facing, Dorothy continues to inspire those around her. She’s currently undergoing radiation and oral chemotherapy, with infusion chemo to begin in August—followed by surgery once her body is ready.

Due to her health, Dorothy is only able to teach music one day a week. As the sole provider for her household, she’s been navigating serious financial strain while focusing on her treatment and caring for her daughter.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our Hot Pink Helpers community, we were able to provide Dorothy with a grant to help cover her household expenses—giving her one less thing to worry about during this difficult time.

Nicole

Nicole is truly a force for good in the world! For over 35 years, she’s been making women look and feel their best as a talented hairdresser — but her magic goes far beyond the chair. Nicole radiates positive energy, lifts others up, and is always ready to help in any way she can.

Recently, Nicole faced her own challenge: a breast cancer diagnosis. After enduring months of brutal chemotherapy, she is now preparing for a double mastectomy later this month. This recovery will keep her from working for 4–6 weeks — a scary reality for someone who is self-employed and living alone.

That’s where Hot Pink Helpers stepped in. Thanks to the generosity of our incredible supporters, we were able to provide Nicole with a grant to help ease the financial burden while she heals.

Nicole’s story is why we do what we do — and why we’re so grateful for each and every person who helps us support women like her.
